Search Results

When you use Medstory to search for health information, your results page will usually contain much more than just links to relevant pages on the Web. This quick guide will help you get the most out of your Medstory search experience.

A Information that Matters

When you see Information that Matters, it means that Medstory has information that it thinks is valuable to you based on your search. Clicking on any information item listed allows you to:

1. Search again by adding that information item to your original search;
2. Search again using just that information item; or
3. View Medstory's information page for that item.

B Information categories

When Medstory presents Information that Matters, it puts this information in categories (like drugs, conditions and personal health) to help you quickly find what matters most. To learn more about the categories that Medstory uses, click here.

C Relevance meter

Within each information category, every item is followed by a bar that represents how relevant Medstory thinks that item is to your search. For each category, the longer the bar, the more relevant.

D View more

By default, Medstory shows a maximum of 5 items per information category. To view more items per category, click the "View More..." link.

E Services

When you search using Medstory, in addition to providing Information that Matters, Medstory performs your search within a wide variety of health information services, such as news search, audio/video search and the Web. To switch the service you're interested in, just click the link for the service you want to use. To learn more about these services, click here.

F Health and research tabs

You can use these tabs while searching to toggle between a consumer health mode and a research-oriented mode. By toggling, you'll notice differences in information categories, as well as the Medstory services offered.

G RSS (not shown above)

Using your feed reader, you can use the RSS Feed link at the bottom of your results page to generate a feed of results from any of the Medstory services.

H Advanced search (not shown above)

By default, Medstory automatically includes "AND" between your search terms. Medstory also supports the use of uppercase "OR" (useful when searching for either term), as well as uppercase "NOT" (useful for searching for results that don't contain your search term).
